Charmaine Flake graduated magna cum laude from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX with a B.M. in Piano Performance.  After graduating, she taught piano at the First Baptist Church Academy of Fine Arts while staying involved with the Wichita Falls community, such as performing in musicals with The Wichita Theatre (Oklahoma, Two from Galilee) and the Filipino-American Organization of North Texas, and playing the piano and singing at local retirement homes. Charmaine served as church pianist at Liberty Baptist Church for 4 years, led music for Vacation Bible School at Emmanuel Baptist Church for 2 years, and taught preschool music for 4 years. Upon moving to San Marcos with her husband Dalton Flake, Charmaine started accompanying vocalists at Texas State University and has become involved with several musical projects in the San Marcos/Austin area as keyboardist, rehearsal pianist, or music director for shows with companies like Austin Playhouse (Triumph of Love, Man of La Mancha), ZACH Theatre (Les Miserables), St . Stephens Episcopal School (A Chorus Line) and SMAR T Orchestra (Amahl and the Night Visitors) Charmaine is currently the pianist for the Austin organization One Ounce Opera and performs with the group on a regular basis. After over 2 years of teaching in Austin at Lone Star School of Music, she is happy to be part of the family here at Curious Chords Music Studio. Charmaine and Dalton live in Kyle with their son, Lochland.
